Significance & Religious Importance

Eid al-Fitr is one of the two major Islamic holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide. It marks the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer, and self-reflection. The day begins with the special Eid prayer in congregation, paying Zakat al-Fitr (charity for the needy), wearing new clothes, greeting loved ones with "Eid Mubarak", and sharing sweet delicacies like Sheer Khurma.

Recommended Sunnah Deeds & Practices

  • Perform Ghusl (ritual bath) before going to prayer
  • Eat an odd number of dates before leaving for Eid prayer
  • Pay Zakat al-Fitr (Fitrana) before the Eid prayer begins
  • Recite the Takbeerat on the way to the prayer ground
  • Take different routes to and from the prayer place
  • Exchange warm greetings of "Taqabbal Allahu Minna wa Minkum"
Masnoon Dua / Supplication
تَقَبَّلَ اللَّهُ مِنَّا وَمِنْكُمْ
Taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum
May Allah accept [good deeds] from us and from you.
