Importance & Signification Religieuse
1st Ramadan marks the blessed beginning of the holy month of fasting (Sawm), the fourth pillar of Islam. During this sacred month, the Holy Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Muslims observe fasting from dawn (Sehri / Suhoor) to sunset (Iftar), perform special nightly Taraweeh prayers, engage in increased charity (Zakat & Sadaqah), and seek spiritual elevation, forgiveness, and closeness to Allah.
Actes Sunnah & Pratiques Recommandées
- Make sincere intention (Niyyah) for fasting before Fajr
- Eat Suhoor (Sehri), for there is immense blessing in it
- Hasten to break the fast at sunset (Iftar) with dates or water and recite the Iftar dua
- Attend congregational Isha and Taraweeh prayers at the masjid
- Recite and contemplate upon the Holy Quran daily
- Give generously in Sadaqah and feed fasting persons
